Today, I wanted to talk about personal growth – how to grow yourself and expand your world. I've been on a personal journey for the last two years that’s been much more than weight loss. It has been about changing my mindset, growing personally and the ability to release the burden of feeling exhausted every day.
Why would you take a personal journey? Is it because you want to increase your spirituality? Do you want to improve your relationship with your spouse or your children? Do you want to potentially change your own personal being? When you're on a personal journey, reflect on your why. For me, spirituality is something that I've always loved. I'm deeply rooted my religion, but I didn't always put that in the forefront of my mind - baby steps. Family always comes first. I've invested most of my adult life in my children, my husband and friendships. Friendships keep me going and mean the world to me. These are some of my “why”s.
Give Yourself Permission To Go For It
Don't wait for the perfect time, like the holidays or a big family event. Just give yourself permission to go ahead, figure out your “why” and start today. The timing is never going to be perfect. There's always going to be something in the way. For those of you who have had children, if you waited until the perfect time to have children, who knows – you may never have them. Plus if you felt they needed a program to improve their health and wellness, you would provide for their needs. Whether you’re waiting for enough money in the bank or enough hours in your day, don’t wait. Just go ahead and go for it.
Write it Down
Writing down your goals is proven to help you hold yourself accountable. Put it in your underwear drawer. Put it on your mirror in your bathroom. Whatever your goals are, whatever you want to achieve, look at it every day. Rewrite it if you need to. You can also journal. Journal every day. What was good about your day? What was something that you could improve on? Are and be really grateful for all the things that you're doing. Don't be hard on yourself.
Wake up in the morning, kiss your spouse, kiss your kids, be happy, be grateful that you're waking up. Considering the mad men out there, the crazy weather with recent hurricanes and fires…you just don't know what tomorrow will bring. So, make today a great day. Make Saturday a great day of reflection and renewal and start Monday motivated. Start Monday off very positive. Wake up in the morning super positive and get your goals out there. And, believe me, you will be a happier person.
